Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) Therapy is a very specific form of bodywork/massage that stimulates the body’s Lymphatic system. The Lymphatic system returns leaked plasma to the blood vessels after cleansing it of bacteria and other foreign substances. The Lymph system also houses Immune system cells and is therefore integral to the body’s defence system and general health.
MLD uses very gentle, rhythmic movements to move the skin in the direction of the lymph flow, thus stimulating and improving the activity of the Lymph vessels and nodes.

More on Manual Lymphatic Drainage
MLD is a preventative and remedial form of bodywork that has great potential to improve overall well being. Some benefits include:
• Facilitating the body’s self healing mechanisms. MLD is very effective at promoting the healing of fractures, scars, torn ligaments, sprains, reducing inflammation and swelling post C-section, and lessening pain.
• Treating fluid retention
• Deeply relaxing
• Reducing puffiness and dark circles from the face; opening the face to reveal features and brightness of eyes. MLD is a good therapy for general detox as it helps speed up the elimination process.
• MLD is an excellent complementary therapy for people with cancer. The non invasive techniques are very gentle on the body that is already under strain, and helps to promote relaxation.
• MLD is an excellent complementary therapy for people with Lymphoedema. Lymphoedma is a condition when there is consistent swelling on one or more parts of the body due to operations or genetic disorders.
