Myofascial Release
The MFR technique is a specific form of physical therapy that affects and releases fascial restrictions throughout the body to eliminate pain and restore motion. The therapist applies a sustained, gentle pressure for a minimum of 90 to 120 seconds; allowing the fascia to elongate naturally and return to its normal resting length. The MFR therapist considers the client’s postural assessment and works directly with their intimate knowledge and intuitive sense of the body to feel and stretch slowly into the fascial network.
MFR works to release the physical and emotional memories of dense, thick or hard fascia which can sometimes become locked in the fascia system through injury, trauma, scarring, inflammation, bad postural habits and general disassociation from a sense of physical alignment.
The MFR therapist works with the client to educate them in postural and movement awareness. A series of ten sessions are required to complete the MFR program.
When the fascia is in a healthy state it is relaxed and wavy in configuration, to enable optimum support of all internal structures and organs. Healthy fascia allows the individual to feel a sense of freedom in their movement, comfort in their body and overall health and wellbeing. Releasing fascia encourages flexibility, strength and stability.
